Geographic Information Systems – GIS

As Building Information Modeling becomes more complex and closely integrated into a contextual environment, a system is needed to capture, store, analyze, manage, and manipulate this spatial data. 3D laser scanning and BIM are able to combine and generate data that can be used for GIS applications that allow users to create “searches,” analyze, and edit spatial data to present the results of these operations. These applications relate to engineering, planning, property/facility management, site logistics, and business development. DDS can work with universities to begin utilizing GIS for their college campuses to better understand and manage their spatial infrastructure and data Laser scanning the campus and generating a campus model for facility management and operation
